'Cause Baby You're a Firework - and God Lighted You

Yes, Katy Perry's song, Firework¹, was the inspiration behind this article. It was only during a recent trip to the family KTV when I was able to see the video and catch the lyrics - and I think it's pretty well written, especially the parts mentioned above.

It made me go back to a verse that I have read...

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put in under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” - Matthew 5:14-16

Shining isn't necessarily doing something extraordinary, and being recognized by the world in a spectacular way. Sometimes, we shine just by being ourselves, standing up for our beliefs or doing what we do best. We may glorify God in the simplest of things after all, and each of us radiate a different light.

Do you know how colors work?

Color is actually a perception of the eye, and is gauged by how much light bounces off or is absorbed by an object. Not everyone sees the exact same shades of color.

Your light gives color to the world and impacts each person differently. Somewhere out there, a person needs the light only you can shine. Be a glowing beacon to guide the lost, be a spark of inspiration for the desperate, and be a burning motivation for the weary.

Don't ever let anyone dim that light which God has given you!
